The achievements of Maureen FitzSimons as a young performer in America (which is known as Maureen O'Hara today) would have definitely put her into the child-prodigy category. The traits she displayed were normal to a person born in Ireland. by talented parents as well as a loving and supportive family. Maureen was born in Ranelagh an area in Dublin in Ireland, on 17 August 1920. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a part of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen was the third of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen loved playing rough athletic games as a child and excelled at sports. Furthermore, she had a gift to act. This was apparent when she won each Feis for drama and theater which Ireland could provide. At the age of 14, she was invited to the highly acclaimed Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater along with operatic music.
